NOTES FROM THE HOLLER

I hope all of you are doing well and able to rest after the busy Thanksgiving holiday.  We enjoyed a nice quiet holiday with family, enjoying lots of good food and companionship.  No big Black Friday shopping expeditions for me; I think my shopping days are about over.  I just hate the thoughts of grocery shopping, let alone fighting the crowds for big sales.  We have reached the point in our lives that we pretty much buy necessities as we need, and let the rest remain in the stores for all the other people. When hubby gets home from work today, he will probably check out a few stores online that he shops for electronics on, and I have purchased a few scrapbook kits, and that is our big shopping for Cyber Monday.  I guess we are just gettin' too old to cut the mustard anymore! Today is the day many of you have been waiting for!   I hope each of you are blessed with plenty of family, plenty to eat and plenty of shopping.  My plans today include going to visit with my husband's family for a brief time and then going to enjoy a nice meal with my brother and his family.  The kids will all enjoy their Thanksgiving meals today with their in-laws, and tomorrow they will shop while I plan on cleaning house in preparation for our "thanksgiving" meal on Saturday. I am looking forward to all of the kids coming in and spending the day with us. Happy Sunday morning to you.  It is going to be a good day...I just feel it in my bones!  To begin with, I finally got started on some medications that have enabled to think I may be allowed to re-enter into the land of the living.  I even got three or four hours sleep yesterday, the first time in weeks I have been able to lay down and sleep for any length of time at all due to the horrible coughing, and boy do I feel better! We made our Thanksgiving plans with the kids, and are continuing with our "tradition" of having our big dinner day on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  We are however, changing things up a bit because we are not going to have the traditional turkey feast for the kids are beginning to get tired of the dead bird by then.  We are going to have good ole beans and cornbread, and of course, as my hubby says,  "taters fried in grease" .  Then we are hoping to go with the kids out in the field behind the house and let them choose an old-fashioned Chr

I usually love this time of year with the cooler temps and the changing of the leaves, the visits to the orchard, and working in my flower beds but this year has been so different.  I almost feel like a shut-in for I have not left the house in a couple of months except for a few times.  I have had this horrible crud in my head and chest that just will not go away.  Every time I think I am getting over it and I venture out, I back-slide and find myself worse yet again. It seems my immune system is shot, and as it has been for most all my life, everything settles in my lungs and it just takes me weeks to get better.  There has been lots of sleepless nights just sitting on the couch and watching television with a roll of toliet paper by my side to blow my nose on, and a towel stuck between my legs for the coughing fits.  I will not elaborate any further but if you are a woman over 40 then I am sure you know exactly what I am talking about!  Thank goodness for Roku and NetFlix or I really
