GRANNYNKY PRINTABLE RECIPES - FREEBIES

I have been digi-scrappin for several years now.  I love to make scrapbook pages filled with memories and hope I am creating treasures for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  I also like to print out photos and books to give to family and friends as gifts.  I have a vast collection of 4x6 recipe cards that I have created using digi-scrap products, and whenever a get a coupon for free 4x6 photo prints or find special pricing, I usually select some of those recipe cards to print for they make great little last-minute Christmas gifts! Last year, I started making some of my recipes in an 8x10 size in the hopes of having cookbooks ready to give as wedding presents for my grandchildren in ten or twenty years.  How's that for planning ahead :)  I have shared those recipes on my facebook page,  Grannynky's Recipes Tips & More .  Click this link GRANNYNKY PRINTABLE RECIPES   to see the recipes I have so far.  Download Links for Recipes 1 thru 20 are there as well.  I will b

Wishing My Life Away

Growing up, it was always a thrill for the new Sear & Roebuck catalogs to come in the mail.  I would spend hours and hours going through the catalog, page by page, and making wish lists.  I would write down all the ordering information: product name, product #, shipping weight....everything just like I was really going to order it.   I would "order" clothes for my brothers and parents, as well as for myself.  I would wish for Daddy new tools, and furnish Mama's house in the things I knew she would love, and when the Christmas catalog came, my brothers and I would have had everything we saw on television on Saturday mornings!  I loved wishing.....I guess that is where my Daddy first noticed that I was wishing my life away!  I have heard that phrase more than once in my lifetime, and usually it held negative connotations  from him or someone else who was frustrated with me! I can't help it; I like to wish!  Mama made most all my clothes, so about the only "re

OLD SPICE

NO! NO! NO!  I am not talking about some of the viral advertising of Old Spice products for men! And BTW, that advertisement is just wrong...in so many ways, but it worked... I got your attention!!!  I simply wanted to share a blog post with you KNOWING WHEN TO TOSS OUT THE OLD SPICES Erma Bombeck said, "Once you get a spice in your home, you have it forever. Women never throw out spices." I believe her.  Several weeks ago I cleaned out my spices by simply tossing most all of them. Some of them, I brought with me when I married my husband in 1999, and God only knows how long I had them before that.  In my particular case, I think I did the right thing by trashing them, don't you?  However, Nici over at posedperfection.com recently posted some really useful information about maintaining the integrity of the spice cabinet. Hop on over and read her great tips and advice by clicking this link http://www.posedperfection.com/2013/08/knowing-when-to-toss-out-old-s

HUMMINGBIRD, DON'T FLY AWAY - PART 2

They’re fast, cute, and really fun to watch. They also help pollinate your flowers, so attracting them definitely has benefits for gardeners. You can attract them a number of ways: from planting colorful flowers to avoiding using pesticides. But the easiest way to bring them into your yard is by installing a red hummingbird feeder.  Pam at BrownT

HUMMINGBIRD, DON'T FLY AWAY - Part 1

The sweetness of your nectar Has drawn me like a fly I just love you, love you, love you I don't even know the reason why now Hummingbird don't fly away, fly away Hummingbird don't fly away, fly away Seals and Croft - Hummingbird http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98LaApCB4l8 Several years ago, I had two hummingbird feeders hanging on my porch.  All summer long we were visited by swarms of tiny little hummingbirds.  I sat on my porch swing enjoying the sights and sounds of twenty or thirty tiny little missiles blazing around.   I have since learned that you should never have two or more feeders located within sight of each other because hummingbirds are territorial, and the constant battling which ensues makes it hard for any hummer to rest, relax and drink.  Therefore, I now have only one feeder on the front porch but I sure do miss the action that two feeders brought.                                           http://www.abigailsings.com/hummingbirds/

I AM THE MOTHER OF ADULT CHILDREN

From the time I was a small child, all I ever wanted "to be" was a wife and mother.  With one failed marriage of 23 years behind me, I was blessed to be the mother of three amazing sons.  I made a lot of mistakes along the way but raising those boys were the best years of my life.                                  2008 photo of my three sons and I In 1999, I married for the second time, and gained two step-sons.  Our blended family now includes in-laws, out-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and wanna-bes which enrich our life.   There are moments of great joy, as well as sorrow, triumphs and failures, good and bad.  I embrace it all for it makes life worth living. Mothering now is trickier than ever before.  They are adults and each one is an individual.  Each relationship is unique, therefore no cookie-cutter code-of-conduct can be followed.  Mistakes have been made along the way but each has been a learning experience that prepares us for the next path in our

HOME REMEDIES FOR INGROWN HAIR

I was recently asked if I knew of any home remedies for ingrown hairs.  Actually, I have been very fortunate and really have never experienced this problem so I have no first-hand experience but this is a summary of some of the information I found on the problem. HOME REMEDIES FOR INGROWN HAIRS Ingrown hairs are also known as razor bumps because they are usually aggravated by shaving.  The hair sometimes just curls right back on itself.  When the tip of the hair re-enters the skin, its called an ingrown hair.  The resulting bumps appear to be infections of an oil gland or hair follicle but they aren't.  The skin does become irritated at the point the hair actually curls into the skin, however.  Men and women , both suffer from this malady.  The solution for both is to stop shaving.  Short of that, here a few home remedies to consider. image source:  http://goeshealth.com/body-health/ingrown-hair-trigger-prevention-ingrown-hair.html   SHAVING TIPS 01)   Always shave in th

A Note From The Holler

I was so frustrated with my hubby the other night for it just seems like most of the time he is not pleased with anything that I do, or even with me in general, and he never lets an occasion pass by without telling me so, and he can be brutally honest!  All of that puts me in a defensive mode, and my mouth kicks in, and the bickering begins and the only way that finishes is with one or both of us becoming mad.  And it always begins with something so small and petty, that most couples never even have a discussion with their spouse about it in the first place! Case in point... To clean up a mess, I grabbed a dish towel that was sitting right beside me on the counter rather than walking over a tearing off a paper towel.  He did not like that at all and began lecturing to me about how much it costs HIM every time I wash a load of clothes.   In his mind, it is cheaper to buy paper towels.   Now in the first place, I became a little irritated for I get so tired of him telling me how to d

CAMPBELL CREEK REDESIGN

For several weeks, I have been oooooing and awwwwing over the beautiful vintage jewelry created by Lisa Marie Campbell that I see on her Campbell Creek Redesign Facebook page.  I first learned about Lisa's vintage jewelry through my daughter-in-law Carolyn.  Lisa was a friend of Carolyn's brother whom was a Marine killed in the Terrorist Attack on Beirut in 1983, and she now collects vintage items to create unique one-of-a-kind treasures.  To me, it seems there would be something almost magical about wearing a piece of jewelry that holds the mystery of whom might have treasured it long ago.  Well now, I actually get to experience that magic for I just won  this gorgeous redesigned vintage necklace! The vintage treasures  in my necklace include an antique skeleton key, vintage glass beads, a crystal chandelier piece and a small silver tone rose attached to the key from an old vintage set of jewelry Lisa found at an Estate Sale.  I just can't wait till it gets here!
